The rise and fall of temperatures indoors

Temperature affects all the physiological processes of the palms (photosyntesis, respiration, transpiration, etc.) and for each species there is:

- An optimum temperature for its growth.

- A temperature below which its development is held up.

- A temperature at which its tissues become irrevocably damaged.

Reinhardtia gracilis Equally, the good appearance and development of the plants will be determined by the length of time that they are exposed to extreme temperatures, as well as brusque changes caused by draughts, heating or air-conditioning.

Generally speaking, of the palms used for interiors, the most tropical species tolerate temperatures as low as 18ºC (64ºF), and are harmed only if the temperature drops below 13ºC (55ºF).
