Trithrinax schizophylla
It grows near rivers or streams, in areas with very little, or strictly seasonal rainfall, where the typical vegetation is scrubland and deciduous forest.
Its palmate leaves are greyish green, much split and bifid.
Like the other Trithrinax, it is a palm which is to be found in chalky soil. It is extremely hardy and can survive long periods of drought and strong winds.
It has only recently been introduced into the gardening world.
Trithrinax biflabellata, with slimmer trunks, is currently considered to be a variety within Trithrinax schizophylla.
